2024 Honda CR-V Specs, Features, and Comparisons

The iconic Honda CR-V has new updates for the 2024 model year and it’s an instant hit.

The 2024 Honda CR-V is the hottest compact SUV on the market right now. It’s stylish, roomy, comfortable, and off-road ready. The new CR-V feels more responsive and offers a smoother ride with its softened suspension. Honda also added a panoramic sunroof and wireless charging pad to the CR-V's available features list.

What’s New for 2024

For the 2024 model year, Honda has made a few updates to the CR-V, including:

  • A new Sport-L trim level that adds features such as leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power tailgate.

  • A new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is available on the EX-L and Touring trim levels.

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility that is available on all trim levels.

  • New exterior colors, including Aegean Blue Metallic and Canyon River Blue Metallic.

Exterior

The 2024 CR-V has a sleek and modern exterior design. The front end is dominated by a large grille and LED headlights. The sides of the SUV are sculpted and aerodynamic, and the rear end features LED taillights and a dual exhaust system.

The CR-V is available in a variety of colors, including:

  • Aegean Blue Metallic

  • Canyon River Blue Metallic

  • Crystal Black Pearl

  • Lunar Silver Metallic

  • Modern Steel Metallic

  • Morning Mist Metallic

  • Obsidian Blue Pearl

  • Platinum White Pearl

  • Radiant Red Metallic

  • Sonic Gray Pearl

  • Still Night Pearl

  • Urban Gray Metallic

Interior

The interior of the 2024 CR-V is just as impressive as the exterior. You have plenty of legroom and headroom to stretch out and relax. You can even recline your seat back for extra comfort. And if you need to get something out of the cargo area, you can easily reach over the back seat without having to climb over the front seats.

Its spacious interior is perfect for families or anyone who needs to carry a lot of gear. With the rear seats folded down, you have up to 68.7 cubic feet of cargo space. That's enough space to fit a few suitcases, a stroller, and a bike.

The CR-V also comes standard with a variety of advanced features, including:

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Wireless phone charging

  • Heated steering wheel

  • Heated and ventilated front seats

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

  • Power adjustable driver's seat

  • Standard 7.0-inch and available 9.0-inch infotainment display

  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility

Performance and Handling

The 2024 CR-V is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

A hybrid powertrain is also available. It uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to produce a combined 212 horsepower paired with an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT).

The CR-V can be optioned with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive system is designed to provide traction in all types of weather conditions. The turbocharged engine provides adequate power for most driving situations, and the suspension handles bumps and dips really well.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2024 CR-V is very fuel-efficient. The turbocharged engine gets up to 34 mpg on the highway, and the hybrid model gets up to 40 mpg combined, beating its competitors including the RAV4 and Mazda CX-5. This means you can save money at the pump and spend more time doing the things you love.

Safety

The 2024 CR-V comes standard with a suite of safety features, including:

  • Honda Sensing

  • Blind spot monitoring

  • Rear cross-traffic alert

  • Lane-keeping assist

  • Hill start assist

  • Vehicle stability control

The CR-V has also received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Pricing

The 2024 Honda CR-V is expected to start at around $26,000 for the base LX trim level. The top-of-the-line Hybrid Touring trim level is expected to start at 41,175 MSRP.

2024 Honda CR-V vs. the Competition

Now, we will compare the 2024 Honda CR-V to the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester. We will look at key factors such as fuel economy, cargo space, safety features, and pricing to see which SUV comes out on top.

Honda CR-V vs. Toyota RAV4

The RAV4 remains to be the CR-V’s number one competitor. Both SUVs offer a spacious and comfortable interior, capable engines, and a long list of standard safety features. When it comes to gas mileage, the RAV4 stands a little taller but the CR-V is more spacious and therefore more comfortable for passengers, especially on long drives.

Another advantage of the CR-V is its price. The CR-V starts at $26,000, while the RAV4 starts at $27,975. This is a deal breaker, especially if you are on a budget.

Honda CR-V vs. Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is a cool-looking crossover SUV. Like the CR-V, it offers really good handling and easy maneuvering on tight roads. However, there are a few key areas where the CR-V has an edge over the CX-5.

One of the biggest advantages of the CR-V is its cargo space. The CR-V has 68.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, while the CX-5 has 59.5 cubic feet. This is a significant difference, especially if you have a family or need to haul a lot of cargo.

The CR-V also offers better value for money starting at $26,000 compared to the CX-5’s $27,190 starting price. Lastly, the CR-V gets up to 34 mpg on the highway, while the CX-5 gets up to 30 mpg. This means that you can go on long drives without needing to stop for gas as often.

Honda CR-V vs. Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester will meet most of a driver’s needs. It has a comfortable driving position, it’s roomy and has a smart interior layout. However, it doesn’t have that thrilling experience or the extra oomph that many drivers love.

Meanwhile, the CR-V offers more driver engagement. It’s sporty to drive and looks sleek on the outside. In the fuel economy department, The CR-V gets up to 34 mpg on the highway, while the Forester gets up to 33 mpg.

This may seem like a small difference, but it can add up over time. For example, if you drive 12,000 miles per year, you would save over $50 on gas in the CR-V compared to the Forester.
